But, if you&rsquo;ve been to Greece, Turkey, Lebanon or parts of the eastern Mediterranean, you probably know that mezze can be the entire meal.<\/p>\n<p>To me, mezze is the most disarming, unpretentious, and intimate meal. Here is a simple guide for you:<\/p>\n<p>1) Remember mezze is for sharing. Think,&nbsp;intimate&nbsp;and plentiful<em>. <\/em>Find the largest platter you have to display your mezze. Of course you can serve mezze in separate small dishes, and I do that often. But I also enjoy a beautiful mezze platter display.&nbsp; One mezze platter works particularly well for smaller parties of 10 or fewer guests. True Mediterranean mezze includes plenty of colorful veggies.<\/p>\n<p>If you have time, make a Mediterranean salad like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themediterraneandish.com\/tabouli-salad\/\">tabouli,<\/a>&nbsp;which can be a beautiful centerpiece to your platter. This time,&nbsp; I kept things simple by choosing to slice up some fresh tomatoes and Persian cucumbers (which are great with dips and spreads).<\/p>\n<p>Add roasted vegetables! I enjoy roasted eggplant, weather with the addition of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themediterraneandish.com\/tahini-sauce-recipe-how-to-make-tahini\/\">tahini<\/a> and pomegranates like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themediterraneandish.com\/roasted-eggplant-recipe\/\">this one<\/a>, or plain with a pinch of <a href=\"https:\/\/shop.themediterraneandish.com\/product\/sumac\/\">Sumac<\/a>! Top of the list is, of course, hummus!<\/p>\n<p>If you have the time, you can make a classic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themediterraneandish.com\/how-to-make-hummus\/\">creamy hummus<\/a> or this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themediterraneandish.com\/roasted-red-pepper-hummus-recipe\/\">roasted red pepper hummus<\/a> ahead of time.&nbsp; In a pinch, I&rsquo;ve also quality store-bought hummus like organic hummus from&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/sabra.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Sabra,<\/a>&nbsp;for example.<\/p>\n<p>Consider adding <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themediterraneandish.com\/tzatziki-sauce-recipe\/\">tzatziki<\/a>&nbsp; or&nbsp; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themediterraneandish.com\/homemade-labneh-recipe\/\">labneh (yogurt cheese).<\/a>&nbsp;Again, if you don&rsquo;t have the time, you can use quality store-bought tzatziki, and you may find labneh at specialty stores or your local Middle Eastern store.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-17651\" src=\"https:\/\/www.themediterraneandish.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/How-to-build-the-perfect-Mediterranean-Party-Platter-with-Hummus-104.jpg\" alt=\"Mezze party platter with hummus\" width=\"1000\" height=\"1500\" data-pin-description=\"Mezze: How to Build the Perfect Mediterranean Party Platter | The Mediterranean Dish . I like to add things like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themediterraneandish.com\/quick-pickled-cucumber-recipe\/\">quick pickled cucumbers<\/a>, Greek kalmata olives, marinated artichokes, or pickled mushrooms. Check out your local store&rsquo;s olive bar for inspirations.<\/p>\n<p>6) Other Mediterranean favorites: cheese (feta and baby mozzarella are my go-to here); meats like Prosciutto or salami; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themediterraneandish.com\/honey-and-aleppo-pepper-spiced-nuts\/\">spiced nuts<\/a>, and figs or grapes for a little something sweet to cleanse the palette.<\/p>\n<p>7) Breads. Of course warm pita is always a good choice to go with your mezze platter. But you can add crostini and crackers as well.<\/p>\n<p>I hope you&rsquo;ll use this as a loose guideline for building your mezze platter. Remember, there really is no right or wrong way to mezze.
